Sambalpur in Orissa got its first food ATM near the District hospital. A refrigerator with 700 litres of capacity has been installed by the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation along with a local organization called Swaichaa on 13th November, 2019.
In order to help the needy and poor, this food ATM has been set up. People can leave the leftover food without it going waste. The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation has also appointed a Food Enforcement Officer who will check the quality of the food from the kiosk on a timely basis. The food ATM will be managed and operated by the Swaichaa Organization along with the Municipal Corporation.
The Food Inspector said that the people have been advised to drop only vegetarian food. The food ATM will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
