Netflix show portrays Jesus as gay

Netflix show – ‘The First Temptation of Christ’ depicts Jesus as a gay. The show was created by Brazilian YouTube comedy group Porta dos Fundos. The show portrays Jesus in a gay character and bringing home his presumed boyfriend Orlando to meet his family.

The show had led to almost two million people signing the petition to remove the show as it was hurting sentiments. Around 19 lakh petitions were filed in Brazil. Brazil is a homophobic country which does not believe in LGBTQ⁺ rights. Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro reportedly described himself as a ‘proud homophobe’ and suspended the funding for series of films that include LGBTQ⁺ themes.

Bolsonaro tweeted that ‘The First Temptation of Christ’ show in Netflix is garbage and said that the filmmakers do not represent the Brazilian society. The Ports dos Fundos, Internal Emmy winner said that the artistic value and freedom of humour through satire on the most diverse cultural themes of our society and freedom of expression is essential in construction of a democratic country.
